la scarpetta di Venere-Lady's slipper

Lo scorso  fine settimana l'ho trascorso a Civitella Alfedena, nel Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo. Io e altri amici artisti naturalisti di Ars et Natura abbiamo partecipato a una giornata per Telethon, con tanti bambini delle scuole, tutti a disegnare, per poi mettere all'asta i nostri disegni. Io ne ho prodotti 2 sul posto e 4 ne ho portati da casa. Sono quelli con le frecce.

E' andata molto bene, non uno dei 15 disegni è rimasto invenduto, e anche se molti sono andati via a un prezzo molto modesto, abbiamo racimolato più di 800€ per la ricerca sulle malattie genetiche rare.
Questo, sabato.
Domenica, con un tempo splendido, la nostra carovana si è messa in cammino verso la Camosciara, splendido anfiteatro di monti drammatici intorno a una dolce conca.
Lì abbiamo visto la mitica Scarpetta di Venere (Cypripedium calceolus), un'orchidea rarissima, grande e dalle forme sensuali, che cresce sul greto del torrente. Abbarbicata sulla sponda, ho disegnato questo ciuffo, e l'ho completato a casa.
Per culmine di un bellissimo fine settimana, i risultati elettorali, una vera speranza per questo Paese. Forse ce la possiamo fare. Nuovi sindaci, non deludete!




I spent the last week-end at the Abruzzo National Park, to take part, with some artists from Ars et Natura, to an auction sale of our paintings in favour of a charity called Telethon, whose target is funding research on rare genetic diseases. It was a success, and all our 15 watercolous were sold, for a total sum of over 800 €. The ones with the red arrow are mine, 2 made on the spot and 4 brought from home.
This was on the saturday. Next morning, under a blue sky, the group went for a walk to the Camosciara, an enchanting crown of dramatic peaks encircling a verdant valley. There we saw, and I painted, a very beautiful and rare orchid, the Lady's slipper (Cypripedium calceolus). It grew on the bank of a brook, and I drew and painted it perched on a few inches of earth, in order to see it from a better angle.
I finished a few leaves and the background once home.
And to finish off a lovely week-end, the local elections and the defeat of Berlusconi's side. Maybe we can make it, as a country, maybe there's still hope.
