Auguri! Best wishes!

Qualche anno fa, al Parco di Paneveggio per un progetto Ars et Natura, in giugno,  ho disegnato, a china su carta grigia, l'imponente radice di un larice , i suoi rami più bassi, e il padrone di casa: un fringuello di cui ho imparato il canto a memoria, perfino io che ne ho poca! Il lavoro mi ha richiesto diverse ore che ho trascorso seduta per terra, affascinata dall'intreccio dei rami e dalle fibre della corteccia, ipnotizzata dal tiri-tiri-tiri-chiùchiùchiù del fringuello, e chiedendomi se non fossi un po' matta a intraprendere questa impresa grafica. Venduto il disegno, l'avevo un po' dimenticato, ma mi sono ritrovata in mano una prova di stampa e ho pensato: eccolo il biglietto di Natale per quest'anno!
Gli auguri, ovviamente, li canta il fringuello...

A few years ago, spending some time at the Paneveggio Park in the Alps in june,  I drew, on grey paper using a fine tip pen, the imposing root of a larch, part of its lower branches, and the housekeeper: a male chaffinch, whose song I learnt by heart, even I who have a poor memory!
The hours  spent, sitting on the grass, were under the spell of the intricate pattern of branches and bark, and mesmerized by the looping tiri-tiri-tiri-chiùchiùchiù of the bird. Moreover, I kept asking myself if it wasn't a stroke of madness to tackle such a graphic quest.
I sold the drawing and somewhat forgot about it, when a print proof emerged while tidying up, and I thought: here's this year's card!
Greetings are sung by the chaffinch....
