un mestiere pericoloso!! a dangerous job!! |
Seduta quasi a picco sul vuoto, ho affrontato un acquerello su blocco Magnani 20x50, stavolta verticale.
Sono contenta dei colori, ma se avessi potuto, il pino lo avrei spostato un po' più in basso per amore della composizione.
Back to Gaeta to pick up the pictures of the exhibition (see two posts ago), as planned we stopped to draw at the magnificent cliffs of Monte Orlando, where they're called "the cracked mountain".
The weather was gorgeous, people were even bathing at sea (mid-march!), the sun shone on the pinkish-greyish rocks and the sea was rippled. Maritime pines wore dramatic, contorted poses just like Canova's Daphne, jutting out towards the void.
Sitting on the ridge, I tackled this 20x50 cm. watercolour on Magnani "narrow" pad; quite happy with the colours, but for composition's sake I would have preferred the pine further down.
